
Sony officially announces today the arrival of its NW-A800 series of video players. This is actually Sony’s, the same company responsible for putting millions of portable cassette players into hands across the world, first offering in the color screen digital audio player market. Sony’s NW-A800 also comes equipped with video playback capabilities.
Features of the NW-A800 include video support for MPEG-4 and AVC Baseline at 30 fps, audio support for MP3, ATRAC, WMA (non-DRM), AAC (non-DRM), and 30 hours battery life for audio (8 hours for video). The screen size is 2-inch QVGA LCD (240×320), which can be used horizontally or vertically.

The Sony NW-A800 unit is available in black, white, pink, and violet. This video player also comes in three storage capacities of 2 GB, 4 GB, and 8 GB. Screenshots of the interface depict white text on a black background. As of now, preorders for the 8 GB model retails for approximately $392.
