The makers of the ZVUE player, Handheld Entertainment, has announced the acquisition of Dorks.com last week, a move which is aimed to increase the company’s revenue-generating potential. Handheld Entertainment Web Properties, which already owns Putfile.com™, YourDailyMedia.com™, FunMansion.com™ and ZVUE.com™, boasts a total of 13.7 million unique visitors for the month of January 2007 and the inclusion of Dorks.com, a user-generated humor site, is expected to considerably increase the value of the company.
“The launch of Dorks 2.0 is another step towards increasing the revenue generated by our network of Web sites and towards our goal of being cash flow positive by the end of 2007,” Jeff Oscodar, president and chief executive officer of HandHeld Entertainment said, and added that ““Dorks.com will continue to provide free hosting of user-generated and user-submitted content to its visitors, and the new site will also provide users with a more dynamic and easier-to-use experience.”
Handheld Entertainment will add to the experience of users of Dorks.com by implementing a content management system. With the new acquisition, Handheld Entertainment now owns 425,000 free and premium videos for user download.
