In a deal with MobiTV, NBC prime-time shows will now be available on-demand via your handheld. Series with a huge fanbase like Heroes and Battlestar Galactica and popular sitcom The Office are expected to be big drawers. Pricing begins at $1.99 for each show, which will be viewable for 24 hours. Shows that carry advertising will also be made available for free including Bravo’s Workout and Sheer Genius. Besides these mainstream network offerings, MobiTV will also offer telenovelas from Telemundo and ad-supported short programs from Bravo, SCI FI Channel, USA Network, Telemundo and mun2. “This is an extraordinary partnership with MobiTV and we’re excited to be the first major network to offer our viewers wireless access to their favorite prime-time shows on demand,” said president of NBC Universal Digital Distribution Jean-Briac Perrette. “In addition, this groundbreaking deal with MobiTV will create another platform for NBCU’s partner advertisers to reach their audience.” NBC is currently languishing in fourth place among networks in popularity. MobiTV should available for AT&T, U.S. Cellular and Sprint Nextel customer in the U.S., or check MobiTV if the service is available in your area.
