Japanese scientists at Waseda University have developed a special polymer battery that can refill in one minute. Drs Hiroyuki Nishide, Hiroaki Konishi and Takeo Suga are the inventors. The material is a redox-active organic polymer and is only 200 nanometers thin. Nitroxide radical groups act as charge carriers and are poresent in high density. The battery has an extremely high load as well as discharge which gives it an extremely fast recharging rate and gives it a very long cycle, exceeding 1000 recharges. All this adds up to more portable media player time. The new technology have already garnered compliments from other scientists after it was published in the Royal The Society of Chemistry’s newspaper Chemical Communications.
