Are PMPs Personal or are They Merely Portable?

I know it’s a stupid question to ask, but we here at PMPToday advocate something called “universal standardization.” We believe it’s easier for everyone and consumers will get to enjoy universal access to music and video content wherever they are in the world and whether their gadget hails from China, Europe or America. We know it’s wishful thinking and the last thing we want is for governments to force technology to ripen before its time. That’s why we are going to begin our advocacy on something we hope, at the very least, will cause no harm. Hey, we’re not PETA. PMPs are of course devices that store and play media formats. Devices that can receive TV signals and stream them for viewing are also becoming an important inclusion in PMPs, and sometimes we give space to multimedia devices that have embedded receivers for wireless TV or just plain multimedia devices, just because they are too cool not to write about.

And here is the the BIG question: “personal media player” or “portable media player”? For your answers, please email either Serge or Brian or, better yet, click the link below provided for “comments.”
