ViewArt 1000 from Brica is one device that is true to its name. It is a video camera, digital camera, PC webcam, video player with TV output,digital video recorder (DVR) w/TV line-in, photo slideshow player with TV output and it’s also an audio device with MP3 player and audio recorder functions with, additionally, an FM tuner and and an e-book viewer. You can take photos using its 4 megapixel digital camera (capable of taking 2304 x 1728) and pirnt it directly to PictBridge printers.
The screen is a backlit 2.5-inch TFT LCD. As a PMP it converts AVI, Quicktime, MPG, WMV, and Realmedia video files to ASF files through the embedded software. The camera has a maximum of 4 megapixels when interpolated, which means that it’s technically not a 4MP digital camera. The camera is in fact a 2 megapixel. As a video camera it saves in 320 x 240 ASF files. There’s a built-in mic and it records 8.5 hours of video at 30fps. As a webcam it has a dazzling 320 x 240 resolution and connects through USB. A WinME/2000/XP driver is included in your purchase.
Memory is 512MB internal and a 2GB SD card that comes free. You can also make use of the SD/MMC card slot. Form factor is a very portable 88.6 x 58.3 x 16.5mm (or about the size and thickness of an average digital camera). The Brica ViewArt 1000 doesn’t come cheap - $265 - but you do get a powerful gadget for most of your visual technology needs.
