The new Zune was a no show, but what about that touchscreen iPod that wasn’t the iPhone? What? Yes, you heard me, a touchscreen, widescreen iPod. It has 6GB of storage, it is a touchscreen like the iPhone (definitely not running Mac Os, but possibly shares some of the multi-touch features of the iPhone), and coming very, very soon. As in Tuesday. This could be a joke, a very mean one after Microsoft couldn’t come up with a new player, not even the old Zune in a new fresh… lime green?
The tip was given to ThinkSecret, which is handling this tip with a lot of skepticism. Previous tips indicated that a touchscreen iPod will be coming on a much later date late this year, but the site also points out the possibility that Apple might have finished testing its multi-touchscreen technology and it would only be happy to relieve (er, redirect) some of the pressure off the iPhone announcement this June.
