Archos, one of the biggest players in the portable media market, have launched a VOD service in China in partnership with BVVOD, China’s leader in China’s online-copyright content. The service is called A9 and allows consumers to download videos from their PC and transfer them to their Archos PMPs. Besides movies, users can download music and TV shows. The partnership between Archos and BVVOD is potentially a market-dominating one. We shall see if China’s PMP users will respond to the quality of Archos and the content leadership of BVVOD. It’s almost a no-brainer, but with the dynamism in China’s PMP market, we can only be sure after the numbers begin to arrive.
