Unknown iPhone Features Revealed: Replaceable iPhone Battery, iWork, AT&T Rebate, etc.
30 05 2007
Steve Jobs kept a few things about the iPhone a secret, like the additional flash memory and a slightly different WiFi connectivity than what other phones use. The idea here is not to turn consumers off from iPods, especially the new iPod Video. Below is a list of previously unknown iPhone features, at least according to this Vim3 weblog:
1. More flash memory than what was announced
2. The iPhone will use 802.11n instead of 802.11g wireless connectivity, which is significantly faster.
3. Battery is replaceable: unlike iPods, iPhone batteries can be replaced by users, so no need to surrender it to an Apple Center. The battery apparently comes out when you slide down the bottom where the speaker is located. Also solves the problem when the system hangs, you just slide the battery out and slide it in again.
4. Price rebates are available: AT&T customers will not be paying the full $499 or $599 price tag because they can get rebates. Of course, we already know the alternative iPhone plans from AT&T.
5. iTunes through WiFi: visit iTunes and purchase song that are transferable to your PC using your iPhone’s WiFi
6. iTunes streaming: through WiFi
7. OS X with iWork and iLife: you will have a word processor, spread sheets, the works.
Note: Needless to say (or, perhaps it’s not that needless), these are all just rumors until Apple confirms it. For the original source of the rumor goto the Vim3 blog.

[sorry, in my hurry I made a mistake writing that a flash memory was added on top of the hard disk memory. Of course, the iPhone only has 8GB flash memory. I was thinking of the iPod. Thanks Paul.]
