Here’s a Chinese PMP with no English name - not yet, at least. Tsinghua Tongfang’s new mini-PMP is an impressive convergence device inside and out. You know this Chinese-made PMP is going to be important when it looks fashionable without copying an Apple design. The PMC-V616 is made entirely of stainless steel. It measures 90 × 60 × 14mm. Even with a metal casing, the Chinese kept this PMP light at 100g. It boasts a 2.4-inch QVGA TFT screen with 320 × 240-pixel resolution. It plays Microsoft’s ASF videos at 30fps, giving it outside-China potential. It’s compatible with MP3, WMA and JPEG with MP3 recording function, E-Book reader, game emulator, calculator, watch and calendar. It’s pretty much a complete device, especially with the 1.3 megapixel camera on the back. One weakness is battery life. The PMC-V616 plays video for up to two hours only. SD memory extension also provided.
