How do you feel about mobile surfing? You can wait for iPhone and try out Safari on 2.5G, or get a Palm Foleo for the same price as a 4GB iPhone. You can even go retro and get yourself a Nokia N800, which, last I heard, still costs a hefty $400 a pop. Or you can get Asus’ Eee PC.
You get a 7-inch display, 16GB in flash storage, WiFi connectivity and VGA camera and possibly, very soon, a 3G module. It looks like a laptop but it’s built mainly to surf the Web. RAM is not bad as well at 512MB (heck, I’m using 512MB right now). But, by far, the best feature of the Eee PC is its $199 price tag, which makes this a very suitable second PC for bloggers like me. Since, it will be on flash memory, booting up the Eee PC would take no more than 15 seconds. It’s also built with some shock proofing. It will be running on either Linux or Windows XP. Oh, officially, it’s called Eee PC 701.
