Archos officially came oput yesterday with its Gen5 portable media players 105 (mini-PMP) 405, 605, 705 with a new addition, TV Plus. It almost felt like MacWorld 2007 to the bloggers who managed to attend. In our post, we’ve included a composite of several popular blogs and a awesome video preview of the 605, the only PMP, it seemed, that was ready for a full review at that time.

The Archos 605 WiFi comes in 4GB (flash version), 30GB and 160GB priced at $229, $299 and $399 respectively. It retains the 4.3-inch touch scree of the 604 but is a slimmed down version of the older 604. The tactile buttons on the right look soft to touch. The user interface also is vastly imporved making it more user-friendly. The 605 supports a host of plugins, including Flash player for YouTube watching. It has a program guide and video recording capability. More interesting is the Archos-CinemaNow deal which lets you download CinemaNow content directly via WiFi. Over all, the 160GB version seems the best value for your money.
Here are the 605 WiFi’s others specs:
- 4.3-inch touch screen has 800 x 480 pixels with 16million colors
- 122 X 82 X 15mm at 150g and 190g (version flash 4GB/30GB) and 122 X 82 X 20mm at 260g (80GB(?)/160GB)
- HD 720p video playback! ($20 extra)
- video recording via DVR station with QWERTY remote control ($100 extra)
