If you’re into portable Internet browsing, you might have heard of the Nokia N800. It’s mnot as popular as other Nseries handsets, like the N95 multimedia cellphone. Not being wildly popular, however, will not stop some Chinese companies from imitating you. Take the UMPC001 from XIACHAO of China. It’s pretty near to being the exact copy of the N800 but in fact, on paper, the UMPC001 has better specs than the Nseries Internet device.
The UMPC001 is a GPS device with a 4.3-inch TFT touchscreen. It has WiFi connectivity, which includes Skype support. It’s also a music and video player (MP3, WMA, WAV, AAC, MIDI, RMV, AMR and WMV, ASF, AVI, MP4, DiVX), a game emulator and support for Word and Excel (I suppose as a UMPC this includes editing support for Word and Excel documents). The UMPC001 runs on Windows CE and is equipped with a camera (though pixel count is unspecified). You’ll have to inquire to get the price.
