iPhone Gets First Dibs on Mobile YouTube Player
20 06 2007
Apple has another surprise for us. Apple.com’s iPhone page shows a fully integrated mobile YouTube that can be streamed on an iPhone using WiFi. This is a mobile version of YouTube that can be launched from a special YouTube Player icon right from the iPhone’s home screen. It won’t be the same YouTube on your PC but a streamlined version that won’t sap bandwidth and battery life. After you click on the application, you’ll have a cellphone viewable version of YouTube - Featured, Most Viewed, Bookmarked, Search and More icons at the bottom of the screen. The screen goes to landscape mode after you click a video.
Of course, this mobile version of YouTube will also be available for other cellphones, but iPhone with its 3.5-inch widescreen will be the best hardware for the application for some time. This is definitely a great add-on for the multi-featured iPhone. At the moment of this writing, AAPL is down .61%
Watch the demo after the break.
