<!--%kramer-ref-pre%-->[...] well, considering the iPhone is a 2G device (or 2.5G), and a 3G version is yet to be released, it goes without saying that it won't be on 3.... I think it will be, have a read. http://www.pmptoday.com/2007/06/29/3g-iphone-for-the-uk-to-be-announced-monday/ [...]<!--%kramer-ref-post%-->

I tend to think that the possibility of the iPhone turning on 3G support is VERY likely. It makes sense, it will be attractive to more markets instead of only being able to work (bow down to) those regions with limited number of EDGE carriers.

Here in Australia there is only one carrier that has majority EDGE coverage and they are in bed with Microsoft, therefore they are not in favour of the Apple iPhone,. That leaves working with one of the other carriers here and 3G. Will have to wait till later in the year and see how the bidness pans out.

So my vote/guess on 3G is a big YES.
