After the M850, Maxian intros the L600, successor to the T600. The L600 is notably concentrated on the PMP functionality. The 4.3-inch TFT LCD screen has WQVGA 480 x 272-pixel resolution and 16:9 aspect ratio. It’s compatible with a host of file types: XviD, WMV9, MPEG1, MPEG2, DivX 3.1, 4.xx, 5.xx, ISO MPEG-4 SP, VOB, DAT, MP4, ASF, MP3, WMA, WAV, OGG, AC3, AAC, , JPEG, BMP, TXT, SMI, INFORMATION, htm (HTML). It’s an aduio/video recording as well with a 3Mbps maximum video recording speed at 640 x 480 pixels. Also onboard: In/out AV connection, USB. It plays 5:30 of video and 8 hours of audio. The 139 x 78 x 27mm for fator form factor [thanks Gavin] is a little brick-like and so is the 335g weight. No announcement for the price and availability yet.

I bought the L600 PMP during my stay here in South Korea. It is a pretty fantastic device for pics and videos. It is ideal for watching the many anime files I’ve got around on my different hard drives. As an MP3 player, it has an annoying habit of skipping around towards the end of all the songs. It jumps and comes back, struggling at the very last bit of the songs. No idea why. I use a variety of bit rates and sampling resolutions but they don’t seem to have any bearing on the L600’s stubbornness in this area. FOR VIDEOS IT IS SUPERB! I just can not figure out the dang deal with MP3’s on here.
