Major iPhone Updates Coming Soon, Still no MMS

The first iPhone firmware will give the iPhone a widescreen virtual keyboard on every application. The widescreen iPhone keyboard will no longer be exclusive to the Safari browser. Is that good news or what? Still no MMS and no shortcut keys for true speed dialing (the iPhone equivalent is the Favorites list, which isn’t really speed dialing, but is more easily customizable than in other phones, as if that gives you peace of mind when you’re walking alone in a dark alley). But the new firmware will give iPhone Flash support, which is really nice, and an added feature called “ringtones,” which probably means MP3 ringtones since iPhone already has 25 preloaded and pretty cool ringtones.

Here’s the list of upgrades: 1) More major applications are coming like a mobile version of version of iWork and iChat (instant messaging on an iPhone at last), 2) File browser (it will be the same as on the Leopard for Mac), 3) Disk mode, 4) Mobile Spotlight file search, 5) Widescreen keyboard in every app, 6) Support for Copy/Paste, 7) File sharing with WiFi, 8) add mail accounts without iTunes, 9) syncing with .Mac server, 10) Ringtones, 11) Flash support, 12) Camera software upgrade, now with stabilization feature.

How will the firmware updates be handled? Will it just be a synch with iTunes or a wireless download onto the phone?
