Chinese PMP-manufacturer ZARVA seems to be heading downward numerically with its newly launched MV209. We’ve written in the past about the MV300, which is a PMP with a DV (digital video) camera. While the MV300 boasts a 3.5-inch touchscreen, the new MV209 is a 2.8-incher with the touchscreen exchanged for a four tactile buttons. It’s plays MP4 videos on an HDTV TFT screen with audio support for MP3, WMA, FLAC and APE. I can only find a 1GB and 2GB model on Chinese online shopping sites, but players from China often have SD slots for extended storage. There is no mention of the price . One thing I have to comment on is the gorgeous aesthetics of the model. It’s upgradable to play games and the screen also supports 90-degree rotation, though it’s doubtful that game play is feasible on landscape mode given the position of the buttons.
If you like the MV209, you’d love the MV208, which is just one notch down in the ZARVA’s player chronology. Both players will come out mid-July.
