Tsinghua Tongfang has introduced a new MP4 player in China, what we call around here a PMP. The last player we wrote about from this manufacturer was the PMC-V616, a sleek-looking stainless steel player with a 1.3 megapixel digicam. The V618 is a boxier model that improves on the camera features with a 2 megapixel lens, which doubles as a PC cam. It’s also slimmer at 82mm x 51 mm x 12mm. The 2.4-inch 260k-color TFT LCD screen maintains the V616 320 × 240-pixel resolution. On the V616, the camera is a little placed off center for some reason. The V618’s camera has a more familiar location. For video it has native support for AVI. With conversion software it would allow most any file format in the market (3GP, MP4, WMV, MOV, MPG, DAT, ASF, MTV, and DVD). For music, it plays MP3, WMA, WAV and it views JPEG and TXT as well. Other features includes an NES emulator, an FM tuner and audio recording.
The price as usual is very reasonable: 499 yuan ($66) for the 1GB and 569 yuan ($75) for the 2GB.
More pictures after the break.
