We’ve reported about this before but now it’s officially mainstream knowledge. Apple products iPhone and iPod uses 25% of the flash memory market and will significantly contribute to the rise of prices of NAND flash. Nand flash is widely used in portable devices like cell phones, MP3 players and PMPs. Though more expensive than hard disk drives and stores less memory, NAND flash has steadily increased its capacity and without any moving parts or electrical charge, flash memory is ideal for portables.
