So, some very tech-savvy researchers at Independent Security Evaluators have discovered a serious security vulnerability in the iPhone. Actually, it happens when the built-in Safari browser opens up a website loaded with malicious code. This allows would-be hackers to take control of your device.

Once they’ve got control, they’ve got admin access. They can listen in on room audio, and view SMS messages, address book, call history and voicemail data. Yeah, full access indeed. The only way to avoid this? Stay away from sites that you don’t trust (which vastly limits your browsing experience). Further, this exploit may prove applicable to the other (Mac and Windows) versions of Safari as well.

Apple’s been notified of the vulnerability. A full disclosure of the hack will be announced on August 2 at the Black Hat conference.
