Virgin Mobile will be closing shop on its DAB-IP TV service. Too bad, the Lobster phone has already grabbed the hearts of many with its unique design. Virgin hasn’t made an official declaration of their intent to scrap U.K. mobile TV, but after BT Movio, which supplies Virgin with the service, cancelled its contract with GCap Media, which does the broadcast, everything else is academic. Virgin’s DAB-IP broadcast has five channels including BBC1, ITV1 and Channel4. Last EU has announced its adoption of DVB-H as the single mobile TV technology throughout Europe. U.K. isn’t exactly part of EU, nor is it exactly European (at least to the thinking of some Brits), but without foresight, business people aren’t business people.
