We’re using a fake 6G iPod picture above to whet your appetite to an upcoming and very real delight. The 6G iPod with clickwheel, not a touchscreen, has been pegged by very well-placed people for a 1st-half-of-August announcement. For an iPod running Mac OS X with a touch screen, consumers will have to wait till 2008, the same well-placed people say. It will maintain the 320 x 240-pixel screen resolution, which pretty much throws a widescreen iPod out the door. The frame will be shorter. Besides that, the only new thing on this player is the UI. The UI is said to be similar or the exact same UI leaked earlier. I know this will disappoint a lot of people, many of whom will be thinking of getting an iPhone instead. Maybe that’s Apple’s point.
