MeizuMe is reporting that the 3G and HSDPA version of Meizu’s iPhone rival won’t be released until the second quarter of 2008. But before everyone frets that the most advanced phone to from China won’t be competing with the first generation of the iPhone but the second or third generation Apple phone, Meizume has also hinted of a 2.5G version coming a lot earlier. Now whether this would late this year or early next year, we are not sure. The link to the BBS forum is in Chinese and we have searched high and low for the said posting of Meizu CEO J. Wong to no avail. The price, it seems, has been jacked up by $70 from $330, so it’s now $400 for the 8GB model.
