DAP Review did a little poll among its readers on which types of portable media players they prefer. The result is enlightening as a possible future trend in the portable player industry. MP3 phones are still a lowly 2%. Hybrids (MP3 players with minimal video playback functionality) make up 29% of preferred players, while PMPs with full video capacity, i.e. large screens and processing support, have 12% of the votes. HD maintains it’s dominance, though now ever so slight, but we must wonder if this isn’t the effect of manufacturers’ disproportionate support of HD players on the marketing side.
