Samsung suffered a power outage at its Seoul plant recently and had to stop production of it flash chips. Samsung is the world’s biggest NAND Flash manufacturers and this unexpected and pricey stoppage costing the company an estimated $43 million will bring more pressure to a flash storage market straining at Apple’s iPhone and new iPod line. The six production lines that ceased are now back to “fully operational” but the short delay is expected to cause NAND flash shortages until the middle of this month. There are reports that prices of NAND flash have already spiked 6.3%, now priced at a record $19.02.
