Camera manufacturer Vivitar will have a a new PMP available for China soon housing a powerful 5.2 megapixel camera with DVR functions. Not much is known yet of the device besides the megapixel count of its camera lens and that it will have PMP functionality including MP3 playing with audio recording and we haven’t decided yet if the Vivitar DVR-IF is a significant leap in the convergence arena. But the 5+ MP DVR-camera should be the main consideration if you consider this a bargain when its price point is announced. The viewfinder/screen is 2 inches square, a little on the small side for long video-playing but watching raw home-movie footage should be fun.

[...] 1. Vivitar [name tbc]. This Chinese PMP might not have a name yet, but it does have a 5.2-megapixel camera and DVR features, allowing you to record TV shows onto the device. The screen is a bit square for my liking, but that camera means it should be an intriguing alternative to a full-blown digital camera. More info [...]
