Shortly after announcing its plans to launch an online music store to rival iPhone-maker Apple’s iTunes, Nokia has sealed a deal with Microsoft. Microsoft’s PlayReady will be built on Nokia’s popular S60 and Series 40 platforms forming an unbeatable synergy. Though Microsoft has its own Windows Mobile OS for handsets, many analyst agree the partnership should be mutually beneficial. Microsoft’s rights management contribution for Nokia is not expected to be limited to music. Nokia’s high-end linup of handsets include devices that play videos as well as tune in to digital TV.
