We’ve already covered one MP5 player from Aigo. Nevertheless the definition of an MP5 player eludes us. One thing we do know, if “MP5″ actually becomes as popular as MP4 and even MP3, we’re not going to forget it’s the Chinese who invented it. The F965R MP5 Player from Aigo supports RM, RMVB, AVI, MP3, WMA, FLAC and APE. The 2.8-inch screen supports 16.7 milli0n colors. There is a class-D amplifier providing surround sound. Where the “MP5″ label comes in, we’re not sure. The entire audio/visual enterprise of this PMP is powered by a 600MHz ADI processor. This Aigo PMP is one of those 999 yuan PMPs from China, which in the current conversion rate is around $132.
Our conclusion: the Chinese PMP industry is investing heavily on Real Media support, high-powered processors for portable media devices, MP5 encoding (whatever that is really), and all at the lowly price of yuan 999 for the consumers.
