Finally, the world’s first mobile watch will ship to consumers worldwide. SMS Technology of Australia will begin shipping MyMobileWatch M500s on August 31. SMS has been finalizing the specs of the M500, which will now have a stylus add-on two inches longer than the original design and an optional metal bracelet. The M500 is a quadband GSM/GPRS phone with MP3 and MP4 playing functions. The cell phone watches will ship from Hong Kong. The final production version is a little more exciting than expected: improved battery life and Pop3 email and instant messaging support. The production line churns out a quarter million units a month. No change of price has been announced: $820 a pop.
Update: global launch is scheduled September 10.

[...] All the James Bond wannabes in the audience, mark this date on your calendar. Starting September 10th, the SMS MyMobileWatch M500 will begin to ship worldwide, letting you talk and receive text messages right from your wrist. You can call yourself double-o-whatever you want in just over a month from now. The specs on the M500 are in the process of being finalized. We hear that the stylus will be two-inches longer than the original design, making the touchscreen display a little easier to use. Because it’s a quad-band GSM/GPRS phone, you’ll be able to use the M500 just about anywhere in the world. Rounding out the specs are MP3/MP4 playing, improved battery life, POP3 email, and IM support. The SMS MyMobileWatch M500 will ship out of Hong Kong with an asking price of $820 each. [...] We’ll admit, there’s a few sects who’ve already crossed SMS Technology’s M500 watch phone off as vaporware in its finest form, but apparently, the firm is finally coming through on its most recent declaration. Yep, those wearable phones the company has been promising all this time are finally shipping soon, at least, we think. According to the company, “the final version of the M500 production model has been given full clearance to be supplied with full metal strap bracelets,” and it sounds like deliveries should begin within a month. Furthermore, the final production model sports a longer stylus, a battery upgrade, and a few software tweaks including support for POP3 email and IM. Hang tight, the “global retail launch” is slated for September 10th, with the keyword here being “slated.” [Via PMPToday] [...]

Via: PMP Today [...]

OK everyone… http://www.m500.org is up and running with a forum that is not closed (cough cough mymobilewatch).
It should help you keep up to date with this awesome product!
Please run through things, sign up for the BB, and let me know how things feel work. I’ve run many a server in the past and still do, but, strangely enough, I’ve never run a forum. So, this should be fun.
Feel free to start things off by adding what we’ve discussed if you so choose.
If you feel there should be a category in the forum, let me know. There is a contact page that goes to me on the site.
Ciao,
~TC

Anything that has to do with SMS Tech selling the mobile watch M300, M500 or anything else in the future is false as they charge your crdit card and never deliver on the goods. This company is stealing from everyone and you should know they’ll do the same to you.

WARNING: SMS Technology – Australia is running a fraudulent business by selling mobile hand watches through their website. Once you place the order someone from the company will contact you and talk you into buying more watches at reduced prices. The delay the delivery for 30 days on purpose in order to give the credit card transaction time to process. Once SMS Technology receives their money, they don’t ship anything out.
