Sony PMX-U50 PMP Arrives in China

Sony’s Chinese line of PMPs is now selling oin China starting with the PMX-U50. It’s the smaller of the two PMPs (or MP4 players, in Chinese lingo) Sony announced for China in May and should also be the cheaper of the two setting consumers back 999 yuan or around $132 US and 1,299 yuan or $172 US. The user interface of the U50 and the M70 are the same and designed to be user-friendly. The U50 is a small and slim player measuring 86.4 x 68.3 x 7.1mm and weighing only 70g. The screen is a 2.4-inch 320 x 240-pixel TFT. It plays MPEG-4 and (H.264/AVC) at 30fps and audio MP3, WMA, ACC files with lyric synchronization. It’s equipped with a USB 2.0, built-in stereo speakers and FM tuners. Overall, a worthy Sony-made device made as cheaply as possible for the kind of price points the Chinese consumers are used to (the 1GB, 999 yuan model should be in good company). Battery lasts 7 hours 12 hours of music playing and 5 hours of video playback. More pictures after the break.
