The thing is, a gargantuan tablet PC is housing this technology right now. The multi-touch UI reacts any point of contact and takes both stylus and finger pressure separately or simultaneously. Jazzmutant calls their prototype apartus the “Fully Multitouch Tablet.” Once they can find a way to put this technology on a cellphone or a PMP, you can be sure they’ll have a jazzy name for it.

I do not think hardware is the main issue at this point. Developing innovative and useful software that takes full advantage of multi touch inputs is where the work needs to be. Jazzmutant sure has made some great leaps forward compared to other demos available on the web. The product as demo’d has instant appeal to graphic designers. I hope they have other ideas up their sleeves that would broaden that appeal further.
