New China-Only Sony PMX-U53 PMP: The New Word in Iteration
22 08 2007This must be one of the most difficult cases of spot-the-difference, because for the life of me I could not see where the Sony PMX-U53 differ from the PMX-U50. As an iteration, the U53 is oddly identical to the original. Like it’s predecessor, the U53 has a 2.4-inch 320 x 240-pixel screen playing AVC (H.264/AVC) MPEG-4, AVI videos. The U53 has identical dimensions (68.3 x 86.4 x 7.1mm) with the U50 and also weighs 70 grams. FM tuner, stereo speakers, USB. Like the U50, the U53 comes in black, white and pink. It even gets the same 999-yuan ($132) pricing for the 1GB. So what makes the U53, the U53? If you understand Chinese, do let us know.

Hi there, the way Sony works is that they have a model line up, for instance the U50 line up and then based on the capacity of the model the end digit (generally) will change. Here we have the U53, or the 1gb model, but you can also get the U55 which has a 2gb capacity, and I assume the U57 has 4gb of capacity.

u know why?
people (at least Chinese) love new stuff…even if the only thing that’s new is the box/cover…who would want to buy anything that’s covered in dirt?…
