Trekstor’s iBeat Blaxx PMP Gets a Blogdom Beating

Today's Find

We knew there was something a little bit off about Trekstor’s i.Beat Blaxx when we wrote about it a couple of days ago. It’s a nice music player with LG Chocolate-like controls and just a hint of video spport for the 1.3-inch screen. But for only $200, it’s a good deal, or so we thought. It was Gizmodo who first brought to our attention to the racist name, Trekstor’s marketing team came up with for this PMP. I mean, iBeat is awfully derivative. Add Blaxx after that, and it’s right out Ku Klux Klan!

Read some of the blog responses so far after the break.

Gizmodo - “Do not get us wrong [Trekstor PR team] the little fascist, music playing device looks quite the accomplished gadget…. but ‘iBeat blaxx,’ is probably not going to go down well with anyone who is not an absolute jerk-off.”

Shiny Shiny - “your MP3 player is called the i.Beat blaxx, which is derivative, pretentious, and racist sounding!”

Crunchgear -  “Not good. Not good at all.”

G4TV - “Say it again out loud to yourself if you don’t get it. Sounds an awful lot like, “I beat blacks,” which is no surprise because that’s exactly what the device is called.”
