Sony’s Walkman S610 is an ultraportable PMP that has the potential to make much headway in the Apple-dominated MP3 market. It’s not only an MP3 of course but a full PMP with video playback fucntionality and an FM tuner. We’d rather have a 2.5-inch screen but the 1.8-inch QVGA of the S610 should suffice for short music videos in MPEG-4 and H.264 formats. The screen is bright and does well to make the user-friendly Sony Walkman UI an experience. Video playback is a very acceptable 30fps. You lose nothing except screen size when you’re watching movies on the S610.
