Best Buy’s Insignia brand of PMPs are both reliable and cheap, that’s all we can say. Their addition of a new Bluetooth player at a very reasonable premium should clue us in as to what Best Buy is up to as far as concerns the PMP market. The Insignia Sport and Insignia Pilot are two more PMPs priced under $200.
The Insignia Pilot boasts a 2.4-inch screen with MPEG-4 and WMV @ 30fps and plays MP3, WMA, WMA Lossless, WMA DRM, WMA Pro, OGG, WAV. There is Bluetooth, SD memory expansion and an FM tuner. It comes in 4Gb and 8Gb versions priced at $139 and $189 respectively.
The Insignia Sport has a 1.7-inch screen and plays MPEG-4 @ 15fps. It supports MP3, WMA, WMA Lossless, WMA DRM, OGG, has a built-in FM tuner, Bluetooth with microSD expansion. The 2GB and 4Gb models will only set you back $99 and $119 respectively. Black, Blue, and Red are available.
