Aigo Classic MP4 to Battle New iPod Nano
6 09 2007Apple has the iPod Classic and Aigo the Patriot Classic MP4 or MTV player. Seriously, Aigo didn’t bother sticking a serial number on this one. It’s compatible AVI (DivX), MPG, MPEG, VOB, DAT videos and MP3, WMA, OGG audio files. The Classic MP4 plays DVD and VCD files direct without conversion. The 2.0-inch LTPS has 16 million colors and and is someone competitive with the new iPod Nano’s 2.0-inch screen. The Aigo Classic MP4 is a real fatty measuring 66 × 66 × 19mm. This Patriot-branded PMP is going for 999 yuan ($133) for the 4GB, which puts it within the new iPod Nano’s range. Apple’s new iPod line and pricing puts the entire gadget world at a quandary. Will China-made PMPs and MP4 players have any reason for being when video-playing iPods are within the 1,000 yuan price range? Looks like the next lucky number for Chinese players is 888, down from 999.
