You might recall that in a previous post we mentioned that Steve Jobs was offering a $100 rebate to customers who bought the iPhone before August 22. Yup, the people who aren’t eligible for price protection after the 8GB iPhone dropped by $200. Well, the system has gone live, and it seems that there are a few details that Steve neglected to mention.
First, the rebate doesn’t work for iPhones that haven’t been activated on AT&T. Second, you can’t use the code directly in iTunes, or buy an electronic iTunes gift certificate for someone else. Interestingly, although Apple says you can’t get both the price protection and the $100 credit too, some people are claiming they have.
Still, the physical part of getting the rebate is easy enough. All you need to do is enter your phone and serial number, and wait for the SMS from Apple containing your access code. Happy shopping!
