So far, we have two reviews of the iPod Touch published. These are reviews from reliable sources, you understand. Any schmo can give a review of any new gadget, even without the benefit of a hands-on experience but Gizmodo and PC Mag are about as reliable a gadget reviewer as you can get on the Web. We’re waiting for Engadget’s take on the matter - which is better iPhone or iPod Touch? - but the first two reviewers already covered the two major sides.
Gizmodo, ever the avid iPhone fan, has found many things to appreciate about the iTouch. It’s thin, an attention grabber, more so than iPhone. But there are many things about the iPod Touch that just do not jibe with Gizmodo reviewers. The 3.5-inch touch screen on the iPod, for instance, is inferior to iPhone’s screen. The screen is an especially important downside on iPod Touch in comparison with the iPhone, according to Gizmodo: “… when you look directly at the screen while playing video, the deep blacks look strange and opalescent, almost like a film negative. We have tried this on three iPods and they all returned the same result.”
PC Mag, on the other hand, is absolutely ecstatic about the “iTouch.” They think, the phone part of the iPhone is an irritant, and iPod Touch is the purer form of Apple’s multi-touch concept. PC Mag’s opinion on the iTouch screen is 100% contrarian to Gizmodo’s observation: “The video experience on the touch is nearly identical to the one on the iPhone, and the same can be said of viewing photos, with one difference. At full brightness the iPod touch looks a tad better, with deeper, darker color saturation.” Conclusion: the multi-touch interface, Web browser and, the excellent glass screen and WiFi downloads make the iPod Touch a generation or two ahead of other PMPs in the market and definitely worth the price tag.

Wow the two conflicting reviews makes one wonder whether the ipod touch is really good or bad! I like the idea of the touch and look forward to getting my hands on one, since the iphone won’t hit Philippine shores till late 2008. These reviews will definitely make me think long and hard as to whether I should get the touch in the end…

Why isn’t anyone making more of a “Beef” about the lack of memory for the iTouch? I mean in today’s society even Flash Drives in the stores can hold memory than what they put into this unit. 16 Gigabytes just isn’t that much space. I am disappointed but still would like to get one.
September 17th, 2007 at 4:47 pm
iLounge posted their review and found it to just be okay and went as far as saying don’t buy it if you can buy an iPhone. Now time to wait for CNET’s review this week.
September 25th, 2007 at 7:42 pm
I too am wondering if it is a good idea to buy the ‘i touch’. If the memory really is too little, why wasn’t the capacity to upgrade provided? Also is the screen equal to that of the i phone or not?

I really don’t know what apple people is Thinking, Yes, the new Ipod is Fancy, but 16 GB? Come on!!! Why to have an Incredible multimedia player with such a crappy memory?, Why to pay $400 for an updated Ipod that can’t hold my 50 GB music and video library?, Why? for wireless Itunes store, and a touchscreen?? (just buy a hanheld and look what it feels). It’s happening again, apple is fooling Us, their loyal consumers, First I Bought an 80 GB ipod video, later just 6 months after, there is an 160 Gb version for the same price, So if you buy an 16Gb Ipod touch now for $400, in six months there would be an 160 Gb version for maximum $450, So it’s Obvious nobody clever would buy that little fooling gadget right now, If they only would been updated all their actual models (nano, 30, 80, 160 GB) with touchscreen, coverflow, wi fi, etc…, I think we Would go to the store right now…
September 29th, 2007 at 12:57 pm
wow pepe u are very off….
16 gigs is a lot of storage, especially because its NAND FLASH. yea. if u wanted a hard drive in the itouch, it would be about 2 inches thick. u guys are such a bunch of whiners. oh, and that extrapolation that “First I Bought an 80 GB ipod video, later just 6 months after, there is an 160 Gb version for the same price, So if you buy an 16Gb Ipod touch now for $400, in six months there would be an 160 Gb version for maximum $450″ is incredibly incorrect. things just dont work that way.

Well I’m writing this on an iTouch. Takes a little to get used to the thumbboard, but is ok in the end. Coverflow is great, safari is good…. No flash - I wonder why. Screen is identical to iPhone to my eyes. Ipod with wifi makes it a neat little toy. Isn’t that what an iPod is supposed to be, a toy? Honest folks, its just a cool little gadget. They could do some things better of course. But for those of you, like me, who have been waiting for a decent sized flash based ipod, your wait is over. Plus they’ve added wifi!
October 20th, 2007 at 11:15 am
what a rip!
16 gigs? What’s the point of the big screen if you can’t truly multimedia it with mass music and movies. 160 gig min. But then, why buy the “classic” eh, Stevo? Wait til this time next year.
October 26th, 2007 at 9:17 am
I love my Ipod, but do we really need that step up? I mean, Why do we need that much more, for THAT much money? We cannot live with ourselves for being conservative? The Ipod touch is a waste of time, and money. Get the Iphone. It is a much better deal.
November 6th, 2007 at 2:07 pm
how dare you compare a itouch with an iphone that is like comparing two different worlds besides an ipod is a media player not a phone and therefore this is the first version lets wait and see what apple will do with the second generation

It’s amazing to hear what people want, and expect, out of the new ipod touch. If you want a device that does all the same things a computer does, then carry around a laptop. This revolutionary device, like someone previously mentioned, is a ‘gadget’. It’s a portable mp3 player with video and wi-fi capabilites. It has a large display, but yet is sleek and very appealing. It may just be me, but why do you need 160 gigs on such a gadget? iTunes gives you the capability to sync your ipod from your home computer, or as I see it, your home-base for your entire multi-media library. Why not customize/sync your ipod with what you you want at that given time. Theres not need to store your entire library on your ipod. When you want to switch things up, hook up to your home-base, and reconfigure/sync. Makes sense to me. Some people are never satisfied…guess they are missing out.

I second pc cat’s feelings about the storage size. For one thing you can run this thing 6 hours on a good day in video mode. It does hold enough video to easily burn down the batteries without going back for more content. Then there’s all the crap you can stand youtube video buffet anywhere there’s a hotspot. Hotspots aren’t hard to find & tend to exist in the same places you may choose to set up camp with this thing in the first place. Mine’s about evenly split between video & music. Coming from the 80gig video from last christmas, so far I’m more impressed with the gains in function over a bigger hard drive number. I find the touch more intuitive to navigate after 2 days, than the whole year spent on a classic style ipod. The inertia based interface combined with a jump to alphabet on the side make it much easier to jump to some song you know exists somewhere in your massive library. Especialy i the s’ where so many tracks reside I would end up jumping back into alpha skip mode on my old my previous ipod.

Just take 2 minutes and read this. This is very EASY to do! It literally takes 10 minutes to setup. Simply follow the steps below. I promise you, this is 100% real. I wouldn’t jeopardize my eBay account status if this was a scam. My feedback is real and I will answer you on any question! Here is what you do. Click on the link below, register, pick an account type (referral is the easiest) and complete just 1 offer (Very important that you complete the 1 offer otherwise your account will sit in limbo until you do). This is not like other sites where you need to complete one offer on 2 or 3 different pages!!! And a lot of these offers are FREE trials with nothing else to buy…No commitments!!!
There are plenty of cool offers to choose from such as Blockbuster online, Stamp.com, Netflix, Gamefly which are services you would regularly sign up for anyways and their all secure networks, why not use them to get a free PS3 System or cash (I did the Netflix deal). Look at the offers and choose the one that works for you. After signing up and completing your one offer, simply refer 8-13 people (depending on the FREE prize you choose) to do the same under your link (just post the same thing as I have on eBay, and you’ll get your referrals before the auction even ends.)
Then they will ship your Ipod touch or your selected item for free, No Joke, 100% REAL!!! The reason these companies make money, is because most people don’t bother getting all the referrals. All you have to do is post it on EBAY! They use us as advertisement by word of mouth which saves them tons of money which goes toward yours and my free gift. These are legit companies such as Blockbuster, Netflix, Gamefly etc… You can copy my listing if you want. You must use your own authentic link though. You will get your own personal link after your orders placed.
Step 1: Click this link:http://www.YourFreeVideoiPods.com/index.php?ref=4506896
Step 2: Sign up and chose an account type (Referral is the easiest and best).
Step 3: Complete just 1 offer (like Blockbuster or Stamps.com) and refer up to 13 people to do the same (use eBay! Do what I did, copy my ad).
Step 4: Receive your Ipod touch for FREE!!!!!!!!!! (Even The Shipping Is Free!!!)
For proof that this is for real, click on the link below. It’s the company that is behind everything.

Please take advantage of this offer!!!
If you still think this is a scam go ahead and do your own research and decide from there.

I am really wondering which one to get. They are both impressers, but at what cost? I would like to try both, just to see which one functioned better, but from all the reviews I’ve read the iPhone is clearly better. BUT, I have not read enough to say anything about the iPod. I have one of the older iPod Nanos and I love it but I am still curious as to which I would be more pleased with.

i personally do not have the iTouch but i have used my friends a lot. i think that it is a great music player if you want something small and thin with cool things like a touch screen and apps that everyone loves. i don’t agree with the people who complain about not having enough room for songs. when you have 10,000 songs, how many do you really listen to???? maybe a few hundred at the most. a friend of mine has maybe 9,000 and sometimes i’ll pick a random song and she’ll have not listened to in months and completely forgot about it. the truth is, most people who have the iTouch have plenty of memory for their songs. if you have tons of songs, those songs are probably more important then having some apps and a touch screen and you should stick with something like the classic

right i have listened to the whineing and bitching and even the compliments i have not noticed a single person ask- “how reliable is the ipod touch” i used the phone and i am astounded at such a quality product. i want an ipod touch 16gig. i will not spend hundreds on such a product if the thing lasts me 13 months! if someone who doesnt work for apple or for a company sponored by apple can assure me i can get at least 3 years out of the 16 gig i will go and buy one tomorrow! does the screen degrade with time? how sturdy is the case?

Ok allright people! ive heard eneough espeacially because i read the whole thing from top to bottotm now people, inside deeply you know you have the craving for an ipod touch with touch screen. I know you like having somthing as cool as an ipod to show off. Who doesnt. My smart friends(people who liked the ipod) you are briliant, obliously the people who dont like it have had a bad experiance with it. They probaly broke it in like 5 months so the people who take good care of it aernt doing anyhting bad. They just respect the ipod as a neat gadjet and somthing that the apple ipod company should be proud of. And we all should. The way we do that is go and buy and ipod touch and treat it as a valuable, not just some old coby(no offense coby you still are ok) That you found in a thrift shop with 100 songs and so fat that it needs LA weight loss(you guyz rock) anyways gtg peace my awsome peeps!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
