Mobile Phone, Rumors

The main problem with a 3G GPhone is that Google will not be able to release it until Q2 of next year because of the licensing and patent problems if Google ads Qualcomm’s chips. If Google is too anxious to wait for 2008, Texas Instrument’s 2.5G EDGE would be the choice of high-speed connection.

The GPhone has been speculated to be an all-Linux and Java device with a web browser that resembles Opera Mini, if not Safari. The GPhone will most likely be a full multi-media phone with music and video playing. HTC has been tapped to make the phones.
