Shenzhen Yingling has launched the mp4 U2-C, which aims to get the ball rolling on the iPod Nano knockoffs. Say, isn’t that image taken straight from Apple’s website? Anyway, the mp4 U2-C has a 1.8-inch, 262,000-color TFT display and can play MPEG-4 videos. MP3 and WMA audio formats are also supported, and e-book and photo-display functionality are included.

The device comes with an FM tuner that has a maximum of 30 presets, and an all-metal housing. It also has a USB 2.0 port and can be used as a mass storage device. Expanding market reach to wider audience, there are 18 languages to choose from. Dimensions are 89×40x8mm, and standard colors are white, blue and silver (but for large orders, you can get “any” color you like).

Click through to see another product from the company, which may be what the mp4 U2-C actually looks like.

I read the specs on this player, and several points need to be updated - 1) the screen is a larger 2.0″ screen, 2) there is no “white” color as stated in the Take 1 - it is silver…

FYI, this Nano III will come with bluetooth and possibly TV in the near future… card slots and loudspeakers are not far off either.. talk about iPod “Phatty”
