Starbucks iTunes Store to Give Away 50 Million Tracks

To launch its new partnership with Apple iTunes, Starbucks has planned perhaps the biggest giveaway in the music industry. Starting at launch date, October 2, to November 7, each Starbucks will be giving 1.5 million “Song of the Day” cards, which can be used on the iTunes Store. The giveaway will include songs from Paul McCartney, John Meyer, Dave Matthews, Anne Lennox and from 33 other artists. Besides the free stuff, Starbucks will sell “digital release” cards so customers can purchase entire albums online. Apple’s iPhone and iPod Touch will have a dedicated button that detects and responds to Starbuck’s WiFi. It will give owners of iPhone and Touch a chance to listen in on what Starbucks is currently playing and purchase it.
