What is computing power? Is it the speed of the processor, the RAM, the operating system. One Laptop Per Child Org has another definition for computing power, and it’s called rather succinctly: XO. Although the XO laptop will not be available for a hundred dollars, you can order one for a $188. It’s got everything: speakers, WiFi, a game pad, a solar panel and a $10 dollar replaceable battery. It’s waterproof, dust proof and it’s got a black-and-white sunlight mode that won’t only save you battery power, it’ll give your eyes a little respite. One interesting feature of the XO laptop is the “Mesh Network,” which David Pogue will explain in the video below. The XO will be available for US citizens for two weeks in November on a buy-one-give-one arrangement for $400. It’s totally tax deductible, and, frankly, $400 is a fair price for an indestructible and functional and ultraportable laptop.

I am an American of African Descent in Jackosnville Florida that has a very low graduation rate, highest in aids, std, birth defects, murders, poor job rates and we have a not for profit that serves Juvenile Delinquents, parents that live below the poverty level, and children that are in our innner city schools that have at least 80% that are on free or reduce lunches. It is like living in a 3rd world country in a country of abundance.
Additionally, we have served court appoint youth and had less than 1% reoffend. We have 7 super toxic waste sites, above averages cancers, drop out rates, and you name it we have it.
But, your computer has raise my eyebrows. This can change a childs desire to learn. As an educator and pastor this is a tool or miraculous proportions.
