Bigger than iPhone and perhaps even more revolutionary than iPhone. Just how revolutionary? When it got introduced, the applause from the audience was barely audible (see video below). Compare it to the absolute mayhem when iPhone was first shown. When the iPod entered the MP3 market, there was no dominant brand in the MP3 player market. Apple’s iPod not only dominated the market, it made it what it is today, a major revenue earner in the consumer hardware industry. As Steve Jobs explained in the video, the iPod made revolutions in three crucial areas: storage, portability and battery life. Apple removed the firewire, eventually, so users can concentrate more on buying songs from iTunes, but nobody cared. They want their MP3-playing deck of cards.
