Like to know how PSP is doing nowadays? I don’t mean how it’s doing in Japan, everyone knows PSP is now number one (numero uno) in Japan. I mean, in case you want to watch a clip with PSP on it, I’ve got a treat for you. Warning, if you like TV a lot and you live in the U.S., you might have seen this ad already. It’s titled “Dude Get Your Own.” There’s an entire series of them. See a few of them when you click the link.
One more video after the break.

PSP is not doing well overall. Developers prefer the tremendous install base of the Nintendo DS when making games. Also, developers prefer the DS since they know DS users buy games, where a number of PSP users never buy any games for the system and just use it as a portable screen for movies.
The PSP had a handful of recent weeks in Japan where it outsold the DS due to its new design and the release of a Final Fantasy game, the system still trails by more than 3/1 in installed base.
Overall, the system isn’t an Atari Lynx, but it is in no danger of upsetting Nintendo’s spot as the number one handheld system maker.
