At last, an official announcement of the much-rumored GPhone is imminent. The Wall Street Journal Reports that Google is ready to debut the GPhone in about two weeks. Apparently, the hardware will be designed by HTC and LG, probably separately. The release is scheduled for mid-2008 and there are already rumors of carriers like Orange France, T-Mobile US and 3 UK wanting to jump on the bandwagon this early. The GPhone will be unlike the Apple iPhone and will welcome third-party developers. In fact, if Google were to take the mobile world by storm, third-party applications will be a major attraction. It’s going to be Google Web in your phone. Revenues will mostly come from advertising.
