Archos’s biggest-screen fifth-gen PMP is the Archos 705. The 80GB version is now selling on the Archos online store for 399.98 Euros. There is some difference between the 704 and the 705, one of which is the new improved user interface. Otherwise, it’s the same old solid PMP with a 7-inch. The 705 also boots up faster, according to Archoslounge, which has published a detailed review. Here is a summary:
- browsing experience easier with a responsive virtual keyboard
- operating system boots up in a few seconds
- touchscreen is less prone to smudges, which makes viewing videos a pleasure
- easy zooming, forward and backward, drag and drop interface and subtitles all work very well
- multitasking: listen to music while browsing pictures (standard in many PMP brand these days)

IF SOMEONE OVER ATarchos reads this why cant the upgrade the 704 wifi how comthe engineers cant give us all the same content as the gen 5 we have been ignored an american company would not have screwed their customers i am waiting for the web browser upgrade i will be happy to pay for it please dont treat us like we dont exist we are the gen 4 Owners

archos where are you did you fall assleep are you working on the gen 6 if you are i hope all the gen 4 and gen 5 cust get screwed like i didthere has been no updates at all for the gen 4 704wifi which is the same hardware as the gen 5 705wifi
so why cantyou give us an upgrade too for a big company like yours why cant you do the decent thing and give us who atre customers to upgrades wake up archos

archos is a lousy company if you buy any products from them they will screw you they have no us cust support they make a product then make a new one nd id you have the old one such as the 704 wifi which is the same as the 705 wifi they will not upgrade your product they will force you to spend another 400.00 for the new product the nokia n800 is a better product it comes with flash and internet and i was abl to upgrade to the 2008 internet tablet without being charged for it if archos is such a big company why cant they upgrade all theirproducts my 704 wifi is only 7months old and customer support which is in france told me that since they made the gen 5 they arent going to upgrade the gen 4 french products stink i hope the gen 5 cust get screwed when they make the gen 6

Yeah…. cause Archos is the ONLY company to release a new product and not let owners of it’s previous version upgrade for zero charge. Archos’s US support, as well as their US marketing is lacking due to the fact that they’re a european-based company with a limited budget for US advertising. If Archos was advertised here in the US, i don’t have a doubt in my mind of the iPod either disappearing, or severely dropping in price/popularity. Plus, not a single person or company is FORCING you to buy the new product. It’s your own choice whether or not to buy the new one.
Besides, i’d much rather spend $400 on a product that has 80GB of storage than $300 on a product that has a 256MB memory card.

if arhos cant advertize in the us then they should not sll any products to us customers the nokia n800 is better you can buy a 4gb sa disk for 45 dollars i have the archos 704 wifi and the nokia n800 i use the archos for the storage of my music if they gave me a flash upgrade i would be hapy if they keep on making new products why cant they give us a lousy 20.00 flash upgrade what is wron with you people over at archos stop screwing the american customers nokia gives free upgrades and they have a software wzzard which is free stop being so cheap
