Google Android Team Announcement: There are Thousands of GPhones

5 11 2007

There is no such thing as a GPhone. It’s a “wonderful moniker for the Android platform,” which will allow software manufacturers to build cell phones customized to people’s unique needs. The GPhone will be created by the 34-member Open Handset Alliance. The press conference is schedule in a little while, which will also be attended by chief executives of Deutche Telekom, HTC, Qualcomm, and Motorola.

- “It is built to be truly open.”

- “Android does not differentiate between the phone’s core applications and third-party applications. They can all be built to have equal access to a phone’s capabilities providing users with a broad spectrum of applications and services.”
