Zune Fan to Change Name to Microsoft Zune
5 11 2007I wonder if Microsoft will actually allow it, given that they have an image to protect. The Zune Tattoo Guy wants to be officially and legally known as “Microsoft Zune,” as if Steven Smith, the name given to him by his mother is not common enough. Steven Smith has three Zune tattoos on his body, one of which we don’t approve of here at PMP Today (hey, if he wants a tattoo why not have something colorful instead of bold text).
So will Microsoft allow it? Certainly not. One hint to Steven Smith, the Zune Tattoo Guy, his “Welcome to the Social Tattoo” is officially outdated, thanks to Microsoft moving on to another tag line.

Other trademark names have been used as legal name changes, such as Optimus Prime and goveg.com. So I don’t see why I wouldn’t be allowed to change my name if I wanted to. I guess the final verdict will be tomorrow when I call Microsoft themselves and talk to who I can to see if I am given there blessing to go ahead with my quest.

Hi Steven,
Yeah, I suppose since you’re not a product anything you will not be violating copyrights. Good luck, though, on the name change.
