Taiwan’s Darling Digital (which operates the ezPeer+ P2P music platform) just launched the Kuro MPEG-4 player. Details are scanty at the moment, but we do know that the device has a 2.4-inch TFT LCD, a 1GB capacity and uses proprietary software. Price will be NT$2,990 (about US$92).
The Kuro was developed by C-Media Electronics, which specializes in PC audio solutions. That being said, it does seem to resemble more than a few devices that we’ve covered in the past.
The release comes in line with the announcement of the ezPeer+ ToGo platform, which allow music downloads straight to the player. Users will have three months of free downloads, and can choose to be connected afterward for NT$149 monthly.
Darling Digital plans to license the self-developed software and ezPeer+ ToGo service to other companies. A smaller PMP is scheduled for release in 2008 (we’ll keep you posted).
